The removal of the housing tax was a commitment by the flagship of the candidate Emmanuel Macron, who is elected for President of the Republic. The commitment was ambitious and clear : to guarantee that the 4 French on 5 would pay more property tax as early as 2020. The commitment will be held this year.
The removal of the housing tax, a reality for 80 % of the population
The complete removal of the housing tax for all taxpayers, will be effective in 2023. This was confirmed by the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, after that questions on the subject have emerged in the aftermath of the health crisis that we have just been through. The 20 % of wealthiest households will therefore although they also of this deletion, in compliance with the commitments of the original of the President of the Republic.
This deletion relates only to primary residences, excluding the taxes, housing furnished rentals and secondary residences.
The conditions to benefit from the abolition of the housing tax
In order to benefit from the complete elimination of the property tax or a partial reduction, of the income requirements have been defined, depending on the number of units of the quotient familial :
- For 1 hand, the tax income of the reference must not exceed 27.706 € for the relief total (28.732 € for relief, declining balance)
- For 2 units, 44.125 € (46.177 €)
- For 3 units, 56.439 € (58.491 €)
- For 4 units, 68.753 € (70.805 €)
- For 5 units, 81.067 € (83.119 €)
