In the Federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany law enforcement authorities exposed a large network of pedophiles, which is engaged in the distribution of content depicting acts of violence against children, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Country.
The police unit for combating cybercrime was able to track the network activities which allegedly involved some 30 000 people.
“I did not expect such a degree of ill-treatment of children on the Internet”, — commented on the crime justice Minister Peter Biesenbach.
Police are now working to identify all pedophiles. At the moment the law enforcement have identified 70 people throughout Germany.
The investigation began in October last year with the arrest of a suspect in the municipality of Bergisch-Gladbach near Cologne. In may the perpetrator, 27-year-old soldier, received 10 years in prison and was placed in a psychiatric institution for an indefinite period.
This month was arrested about 11 people on suspicion in cruel treatment with children and filming their actions on video. Investigators have identified at least three victims under the age of 5, 10 and 12 years.
