The day will cost 2000 UAH.
Friday, may 8, in Ukraine started the project with paid comfortable the cameras in the jail. So far the service is only available in Kyiv remand prison, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to Country.
A day in a cell with prisoners will take 2 000, to pay for at least a week or a month is more profitable then comfortable conditions will cost 8 000 and 12 000 respectively.
About this in Facebook said the Minister of justice Denis Malyuska.
“Today launched the operation of paid cameras with improved accommodation conditions in Ukrainian detention centers. First right the Kyiv SIZO — earned 4 cameras: one 2 seater, one 3 seater and two 4-seater. The rest of the Ukrainian prison will catch up later,” wrote the Minister.
According to him, for convenience next week on the website “Online house of justice” will earn the option of online payment. Proceeds for this “rental” promise to allocate to maintaining proper conditions in free cameras and to cover the cost of maintenance of rooms with improved conditions.
Malyska said that the initiative of introduction of paid chamber has two key goals:
- remove corruption (instead of bribe money for a better camera will go officially in the budget of the special Fund);
- find additional funding for detention centres — now the budget funds are insufficient and require additional taxpayer funds in the Ministry of justice does not want.
Thus, according to the Minister, we are not talking about the VIP cameras, but the initiative itself does not violate human rights.
“It’s not exactly “VIP-cameras”, as seen in the photos surprising we do not offer or provide. We provide the opportunity to use a larger than usual area of cameras, as well as basic equipment like refrigerator, TV, or Cutlery. Well, the repair is not a hundred years ago, as often happens in our detention centers,” wrote Maluska.
According to him, as before, the Ministry will ensure the free functioning of the cameras and their status is not only not deteriorate but on the contrary will be improved at the expense of income, which will generate the paid camera.
“It should be remembered that we are talking about remand centres, i.e. places where persons in respect of which no sentence of a court and deemed not guilty of committing a crime. If the person from the point of view of the law is innocent — we should not limit her ability to pay for better living conditions,” — said the Minister.
But those people, against whom the verdicts have entered into force, according to Maluski, no better conditions are for the money will not be created. In prison all will be in equal conditions and will serve set by the court punishment for the crime.
