Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Friday, January 17, that 2 more people died from diseases associated with vaping.
The state health Department confirmed the death of two of the victims were associated with vaping. The total number of deaths in new York state has reached four.
One victim was about 20 years old, another fifty. The latter lived in the County of Ontario.
“These deaths are tragic and they are preventable“, — said Cuomo.
Denis Byrne, Jr. of the Bronx was the first, who died from vaping in the state. 17-year-old died October 4 at Montefiore Medical Center from injuries of the lung, caused by the use of electronic cigarettes, according to the Office of the chief medical examiner. A 30-year-old man died of a disease caused by vaping on November 9 at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.
As of Tuesday, January 14, the Centers for control and prevention (CDC) disease confirmed 60 deaths related to vaping in 27 States and the district of Columbia. The youngest victim was 15 years old. According to the CDC, the country has admitted more than 2,600 people.
Most people suffering from lung disease related vaping, reported that they used illicit drugs contain tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the main psychoactive chemical in cannabis.
