TEHERAN – Minister of Foreign Affairs Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Tehran was sure Israel was on the back of a power cut that recently occurred on the Natanz nuclear facility .

Zarif said that Israel had gambled and lost by sabotaging the Natanz nuclear facilities. According to him, the Natanz attack will strengthen Iran’s position in nuclear talks.

“Israel thought the attack would weaken our hands in the Vienna talks, but on the contrary it would strengthen our position,” he was quoted as saying Sputnik, Tuesday (13/4/2021).

Zarif stressed Tehran would demand answers from Israel if it was revealed they were behind the attacks on Natanz.

“If it is known that the Zionist regime is responsible, is behind this problem, then they will be held accountable, and they will see how stupid what they have done. Iran will say something about this issue during the nuclear negotiations,” Zarif said at a press conference. after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Zarif also confirmed that the Natanz nuclear facility will soon be equipped with next-generation centrifuges for uranium enrichment.

“I guarantee that in the near future more advanced uranium enrichment centrifuges will be deployed at the Natanz facility,” Zarif said.

On Sunday morning, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) reported that the Natanz facility had an incident involving its electricity distribution network. AEOI chief Ali Akbar Salehi described the incident as “nuclear terrorism.”

In turn, Iranian authorities say all damaged centrifuges will be replaced with better ones.

Israeli television station Channel Kan reported, citing intelligence sources that the Natanz facility was the target of a cyber attack involving Israel’s foreign intelligence service, Mossad.
