Liberec – In the Liberec region, it is freezing hard for the fourth day, on Jizerka in the Jizerské hory before dawn, the temperature dropped below minus 19 degrees Celsius, in other places it was as low as minus ten. Motorists recommend extra caution. The main strokes are mostly bare and frozen. Drivers should pay attention to the icy roads near Ohrazenice on the I/35 road and in Kořenov on the I/10 road, the road near Rozkoše on the I/13 road and near Bílé Kostel on the I/35 road is also icy, warns the Directorate of Roads and Highways ( ŘSD).

In Liberecko, the road from Mníšek via Oldřichovské sedlo to Raspenava and Hejnice remains closed for trucks over six tons. Road workers closed it on Sunday evening after dealing with several accidents there, firefighters were also on the way there on Wednesday afternoon, when a truck with a high-lift platform crashed there. The road leads through a protected area and it is not possible to salt there, therefore it is slippery very quickly and is impassable for heavy trucks. Truck drivers must drive to Raspenava and Hejnice on road 13, which is chemically maintained. The closure is tentatively valid until March 11.
On the roads of lower classes, mainly in the mountains, there is an icy layer of driven snow and ruts can form there. Drivers should also be careful in forested areas and on bridges where roads may be icy, and roadways may also have ice from melting snow. The sky in the Liberec region is clear to partly clear today, temperatures range from minus three to minus ten degrees. According to meteorologists, it will get warmer and temperatures can rise to six degrees during the day, it will be above zero even in the mountains.
