Prague – Jan Novák will retire as director of the Prague Castle Administration on Friday. The head of the presidential office, Jana Vohralíková, asked to be relieved of her position, in connection with her long-term stay abroad. Vohralíková stated this in today's press release. Novák also made available to the chancellor the position of director of the administrative section of the president's office.

Novák requested to be released from the position of director of the castle administration as of March 17. “After mutual agreement, the work agenda and projects in progress will be handed over,” said Vohralíková.
Novák has been leading the Administration of Prague Castle since last October, when then-President Miloš Zeman's chancellor Vratislav Mynář dismissed Ivo Velíšek from his position. First, Novák was temporarily entrusted with the leadership, then in January Mynář appointed him based on the recommendation of the selection committee.
Novák worked at Prague Castle under all three Czech presidents. He has been the director of the administrative section of the Office of the President of the Republic since 2015. The head of the section reports to the department of the security director, the department of monument preservation, departmental file and archive services, personnel department and public relations department.
