The 25-year-old Janatová lost a minute and 20 seconds to her and for the first time in her career reached the top twenty in the distance race at the world championship. Compared to the opening skiathlon, she improved by fifteen places. “I'm satisfied, I had a good ride,” she told Czech Television. In the score sheet, she is in the company of opponents, with whom she also fights in the World Cup. “I think I still gave a good performance. I rode very well at the beginning, then I rode in a controlled manner. I probably missed the biggest hill the most,” she added.

Today, she beat her more experienced national team colleague Razýmová by nine seconds. The thirteenth woman in the opening skiathlon was struggling with health problems. “I woke up in the morning with a slight pain in my throat, so I was so nervous if I would be able to complete the race,” Razýmová confided. In the end, she felt quite well and hopes that she will also manage the relay and the final classic 30 with a mass start at the World Cup

Diggins won the most valuable title of her career ten years after her triumph in the double sprint at the WC in Val di Fiemme. From the second kilometer she was in the lead in the split times, holding a lead of a few seconds ahead of the Swedish duo Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson. In the last quarter, she accelerated even more and finally beat Karlsson by 14 seconds. The 31-year-old American won her sixth medal from the World Championships. At the championship in Slovenia, she added gold to the bronze from the pair sprint.

In the second distance race at this world championship, there were two Swedish women on the podium. As in the skiathlon, Karlsson won silver. The winner of Saturday's skiathlon Andersson won bronze this time. She lost 19.5 seconds to the victorious Diggins, but kept her position on the podium safely more than 15 seconds ahead of Norway's Anne Kjersti Kalvaa.
