Kabul Hamid Karzai International Airport has officially reopened. This was announced by the Taliban government (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) on his Twitter page.
00:01 – September 18
“Kabul International Airport has officially reopened for domestic and international commercial flights,” the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said in a statement. The air harbor will operate from 04:30 to 16:30 Moscow time.
Experts from Qatar and Turkey worked on the restoration of the airport “in cooperation with the authorities of Afghanistan.” In particular, the runway damaged as a result of the terrorist attack on August 26 was repaired. On September 4, the first domestic flights departed from the airport – to Mazar-i-Sharif and Kandahar.
Civil air travel from Kabul airport was stopped after the Taliban entered Kabul on August 15. Until August 31, evacuating contingents of NATO countries were stationed at the airport. On September 9, the Taliban announced the opening of Afghan airspace.
