Match of the 50th round of the hockey extra league: Rytíri Kladno – HC Vítkovice Ridera, February 26, 2023, Kladno. Kladno goalkeeper Adam Brízgala concedes the 2nd goal.
Ostrava – Kladno hockey players lost 1:2 against Vítkovice in the match of the 50th round of the extra league, and after their third defeat in a row they continue to close the table of the competition. At the same time, the Central Bohemians played all three duels on their ice. The guests, on the other hand, have succeeded in the fifth of their last six appearances and hold second place. The winning goal was scored by striker Jakub Kotala, who also recorded an assist. Jaromír Jágr made his mark for the home team at 0:2 at 59:03.
Jágr finished in the opening seconds, but his attempt was blocked by the visitors. The Knights were a bit more active in the next few minutes, but the first big chance was prepared by the Ostravas. At the end of the sixth minute, Fridrich with the finisher Lakatoš got into a two-on-one renumbering, but he was unable to overcome goalkeeper Brízgal.
However, the home team didn't take this warning seriously and in the middle of the seventh minute Raskob punished them for it. Jágr could equalize, but from an ideal position he could not beat the visiting goalkeeper Klimeš. On the other side, he flashed when the Ostravans outnumbered Brízgal, then Veber took care of the free puck in front of the goal. Gunner Mueller finished off the guests' outnumbering in the 18th minute, but Brízgala was on his guard again.
Right at the beginning of the second act, Indrák pushed for the finish, but Klimeš's bluff was not enough to equalize. Immediately after, he knocked the puck into the open goal of Klepiš from close range, but the Vítkovice goalkeeper managed to move and took the joy of scoring away from him with a great save. Moments later, Slováček completed the three-to-one conversion, Klimeš blocked his attempt, and the puck bounced just off the left post from the commuter Pytlík.
In the 25th minute, Vítkovic played the first power play of the match, but the home team defended. Immediately after the expiration of the penalty, Klepiš, on the other hand, after jumping onto the ice from the penalty bench, raced alone at Klimeš, but failed with his favorite backhand finish. At the end of the 28th minute, Kladen also had the first numerical advantage at their disposal. Right at the start of the game, Jágr moved the puck to Dotchin after winning the rebound, but his finish from behind the circles was again stopped by the attentive Klimeš.
Kubík didn't take advantage of another chance when he was playing in full. In the closing 36th minute, when both teams were tied at four, Klimeš was saved by the crossbar after Filip's shot from an angle. Even before the break, Kehar was sent off, but the home team, weakened, survived unscathed.
Also in the third period, the Knights were chasing an equaliser, but they continued to fail at Klimeš. And their situation was even more complicated from the 45th minute, because after Veber's mistake in the sideline, Brízgala Kotal shot through. On the other hand, Slováček failed from a similar position. In the 48th minute, the home team got lucky when Jarůšek rang the bar.
The Ostravas then defended their lead with ease. In the end, the Knights tried it with a long game without a goalie, their numerical superiority was further enhanced by Grman's foul and Jágr cut it from the space between the circles 57 seconds before the end of regular time. However, the home team did not reach the desired level.
