Nové Město na Moravá (Žďársko) – The Biathlon World Cup in Nové Město na Moravá started with Michal Krčmár's thirteenth place in the sprint. His dominance in this discipline was confirmed by series leader Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bö, who also won the sixth sprint in the current cup year and has a certain small crystal globe.

Krčmář lost a minute and three-quarters to Bö with one error from lying down and was clearly the best Czech biathlete. He is separated by approximately three seconds from the top ten before Saturday's pursuit race. He loses roughly half a minute to the third Nor Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen.

The other Czech representatives struggled on the shooting range and were not good enough for the best. Thanks to the 36th place, Adam Václavík and Tomáš Mikyska made it into the top 40 points, three positions worse. Jakub Štvrtecký slipped into the fighter as the 60th. Jonáš Mareček took the 76th position after four penalty rounds.

Bö was already certain of the overall sprint triumph before the start of today's race, as his nearest competitor Sturla Holm Laegreid from Vysočina had to travel due to a positive test for the coronavirus. The Norwegian phenom took to the track with starting number two, and when he didn't miss a single time, the winner was soon practically clear, even though some elite biathletes, including Krčmář, had yet to hit the track.

Just like at the recent world championships in Oberhof, his older brother Tarjei finished second behind Johannes Thingnes Bö. He was also flawless on the range, but lost by half a minute. The third Norwegian Christiansen already lost over a minute.
