Tournament sixteen Krejčíková, who, like all the other seeded players, had a free draw in the opening round, was clearly in control of the match with Jastremská from the beginning. During the entire time, the opponent maintained her serve only in the opening game, so in the second set, the Czech player was not stopped even by the fact that she also lost serve twice. After 70 minutes, she converted the first match point.
Fruhvirtová did not manage another three-set duel in California. In the match, she was hampered by a huge number of double faults, of which she accumulated a total of 21. In the third set, even a 5:2 lead was not enough for her to win. In the eighth game, she failed to convert a match point on her opponent's serve and was unable to win the next game. Twenty-seventh-seeded Kalina lost in two and three-quarter hours.
