Kubalík equalized at the end of the first period at 1:1 when he hit the spot between Vladar's body and hand from the left circle. The Pilsen native scored in the NHL for the first time since January 19 and after eight games.
Detroit decided on its fifth straight win between the 36th and 44th minutes, during which it broke a 2-2 tie with three goals. Kubalík started the successful period, who ended the interplay of the entire formation with a shot into the open goal. He was immediately followed up by Tyler Bertuzzi after another quick combination. Pius Suter secured the victory with a shot from the left circle between Vladař's concretes, to whom Zadin pushed the puck.
Nečas scored for the first time since the All-Star break. The Czech center passed the puck to Jesperi Kotkanie, who broke away from the defensive blue line and completed the solo escape with a goal to make it 1:1. Even in the 43rd minute, the score was tied at 2:2, after which Carolina decided to win by four goals. The main hero of the match was Seth Jarvis, who scored a hat trick for the first time in the NHL.
In Columbus, which was the worst team in the competition before the game, Kyle Connor opened the scoring two seconds before the end of the first period. Rittich kept a clean sheet for half the game before Patrik Laine beat him on the power play with a shot on the catcher. The decisive moment came in the 50th minute, in which Kent Johnson indicated a pass and caught Rittich by surprise with a shot from a turn in the right circle. The puck went through the concrete. The win was sealed by Boone Jenner at the risk of Winnipeg without a goalie.
Boston dominated the match in Nashville even without the points contributions of the Czech players and won 5:0. Jeremy Swayman was named the best player, stopping 28 shots and picking up his second shutout of the season. The NHL leader decided with three goals in the second period, Patrice Bergeron (1+1) and Nick Foligno (0+2) each scored two points. David Pastrňák shot five times, but missed the fortieth goal of the season.
