Firefighters fought a forest fire near Route 397, in the La Morandière sector.

The forest fire raging near La Morandière, in the MRC Abitibi, is now under control.

Forest firefighters are still on the scene to completely extinguish the fire, which affected 15 hectares of forest in total, according to the Society for the Protection of Forests against Fire (SOPFEU).

Firefighters were still busy on Wednesday putting out the forest fire in the La Morandière area.

Tanker planes sprayed the area on Tuesday and ground work will continue for a few days.

“ There are currently 13 forest firefighters working there for extinction. The fire was declared under control this morning (Wednesday) at 10 a.m., controlled meaning that its progression is definitely stopped. Now we are extinguishing hot spots across the surface, inside the perimeter of the fire,” says Mélanie Morin, prevention and communications officer for SOPFEU. /p>
