Landsat 9: the new NASA satellite ready for take-off

There NASA has authorized for tomorrow, Monday 27 September, from the coast of California, the launch into orbit of his brand new and powerful Landsat 9 satellite for Earth observation.

The satellite, called Landsat 9, is on its way to take off from Vandenberg Space Force Base atop a rocket Atlas V provided by United Launch Alliance with take-off scheduled for 14:12. EDT (11:12 PDT or 1812 GMT).

“The spacecraft, the Atlas V rocket, all the equipment in the range are ready”

told reporters the Launch director of NASA Tim Dunn in a press conference held yesterday (Saturday 25 September); the mission has a 30-minute window in which to take off from Vandenberg’s Space Launch Complex 3E, he added.
