There will finally be no enlargement of the League 2 football next season. The French football Federation announced its refusal Wednesday, may 27, while the passage from 20 to 22 clubs had yet been voted on by the general assembly of the League last week. As a result, Le Mans and Orleans, which were down in the standings when the championship was interrupted by the pandemic coronavirus and will therefore be well relegated in National.

A “great disappointment” for Philippe Boutron, the president of the US Orleans. It considers, Wednesday, may 27 on franceinfo, that these are “employees who accompany us for many, many years are, unfortunately, victims at the time of this crisis, but also a decision that is made by demagogy.”
franceinfo : How do you welcome this decision today ?
Philippe Boutron : It is a great disappointment, because we thought the vote made at the LFP we would be able to participate in a championship of League 2 to 22 teams. Therefore, there will be an appeal very likely, since it has complied with the procedures and that it is based on texts and conventions co-signed by the Federation and the LFP, in which is put forth : the best interests of football. The objective will be to find out what it is in the best interests of football. There is a convention between the French Federation and the Ligue de football professional, which provides that the championship of League 2, could play for 22 clubs. This has been submitted to the vote of the general assembly and validated with nearly 60% of the vote, this is therefore neither an invention nor an exception, as the convention allows.
Is it that it is not too late to fight ?
We will go until the end, because there are economic consequences to be very heavy. I am very surprised that they are not at all involved in the reflection of the Comex in the current context. The government guidelines are, to do everything, so that there is no undertaking in difficulty, or delete jobs. Unfortunately, I think that the football does not take account of it. He should be above such considerations. Our budget will grow from 10 million euros to five million, a decrease of half. There will therefore necessarily impact on the structural loads because they will not be able to continue like this.
We will be obliged to delete posts and separate employees. For me, this is much more important than the sports field.Philippe Boutronà franceinfo
Employees who accompany us for many, many years and which, unfortunately, will be victims at the time of this crisis, but also a decision that is made by demagoguery, pitting the football amateur football professional, so that the economic issues are not at all the same.
Was it a mistake to stop the championship ?
The ideal would have been to finish the championships, as it there was no appeal. The sporting sanctions applied and person, we the first, not challenged anything. Except that I think that the wisdom has been. We can see it clearly, it is very complicated, even in the active life. Overall, it was unthinkable to be able to resume the competition in normal conditions. I think it was the decision of the wisdom. You do not mess with anything that affects the health.
