The 21-year-old Lehečka played a balanced duel with the world number 12, in which he created more opportunities to win the opponent's serve than the American. But while the native of Mladá Boleslav did not convert any of the three break points, including two in the last game, a single chance was enough for an opponent who was four years older to take a decisive lead in the third set. The first set was decided by a tie-break, which Leheček lost clearly 2:7 after service losses.
