Liberec – Liberec football players will continue to be led by coach Luboš Kozel. The fifty-two-year-old coach agreed with the management of the first league Slovan to extend his contract, which would expire after the season. He signed a new one-year contract with the club with a subsequent option. The North Bohemians informed about it on the social network.

Kozel came to Liberec the year before last at the end of August. At that time, he took over the team after six rounds of the last season in the last place of the table and gradually took it up to the middle superstructure group, which the North Bohemians played again this year. In the final, after a crushing 4:0 away victory over Hradec Králové and a 2:3 defeat in the home rematch, they finished seventh in the competition.
“Given where we were sometime in March, we are satisfied. We finished seventh, which was the goal. I think the performances since the match with Slavia were quite good. Thanks to that, we got into the middle group and then won it,” said Kozel at the press conference after the rematch with Hradec Kozel.
One of the mainstays of the team, Lubomír Tupta, will also continue in Liberec. The 25-year-old Slovak offensive all-rounder spent half a year in Slovan on loan from Pescara in Italy, and the management of the North Bohemian club has now exercised the transfer option. Tupta was one of the most productive Liberec players in the spring and scored six goals.
Slovan management also extended the contract with Greek defender Marios Purzitidis. The 24-year-old defensive all-rounder has been working in Liberec since October 2020 and has so far played 70 league matches for North Bohemia with one goal.
