“I just want to find my daughter”, is the heartfelt plea that becomes a disturbing axis of rotation in The Civil. The shocking story that, after an eight-minute ovation in Cannes, managed to win the Prize of Courage from Un certain regard, and now it finds its new exhibition showcase at the Lima Film Festival. This time, not as a competing film, but as a respected story hosted in the Aclamadas section that exposes the aforementioned Peruvian event.

Based on the real experiences of a mother, the director, Teodora Ana Mihai, immerses himself in the brutal and violent conditions that surround life in northern Mexico. In this case, the protagonist is Heaven (Arcelia Ramirez) who, after the kidnapping of his daughter, Laura (Denisse Azpilcueta), and the lack of help from the authorities, ends in an incessant search through a society paralyzed by systemic violence.
