The government decided on Tuesday to maintain up to 5000 the maximum number of persons in the stages up to the end of the month of August. Patrick Wolff, the president of the national Association of professional team sports leagues feared “problems of logistics extremely complicated”. “I would have preferred that you give a little thinking time before going up to the end of the month of August”, reacted on franceinfo Tuesday, July 28, Patrick Wolff, president of the national Association of professional team sports leagues (ANLSP) while the government has decided to maintain a gauge to maximum of 5,000 people in the stadiums until the end of August. According to him, “the concern is everywhere”. “This is really a fight for all sports for all cities, be it Paris or whatever the basketball at Chalon : it is necessary that people can go in the stadiums with security”, said Mr. Wolff.
franceinfo : The gauge remains, therefore, to 5000 spectators in the stadiums until the end of August. Is it that you are disappointed by this decision ?
Patrick Wolff : Disappointed, yes. Surprised, no. The current circumstances do not allow us necessarily to be optimistic. This is very annoying in this choice is that we will wait until 31 August to review possibly the things. However, the 31 August, the championship of France of football will be restarted. The championship of rugby, it will be a week of reboot. So, it will create problems in logistics extremely complicated.
And this is, unfortunately, not able to let the prefect the opportunity during the interval of time to be able to make exceptions, which will be able to bring us what we most need, that is to say, stability and reading, so that people can subscribe to and that people can buy their ticket to go in stages.
You mention precisely this derogation, at the discretion of the prefects. It surprises you ?
We would have preferred a measure that would give even a dozen or a dozen of days to see if things will move. There had been fears justified about what happened recently. There has been behaviour that encouraged not optimism. There has also been awareness.
I would have preferred that it either be matured and that we have a position that is really more technical in the last days of the month of August.Patrick Wolffà franceinfo
Unfortunately, this is not the case and it is true that the fact of delegating to the prefect is something that can be very complicated in the application.
The football saw a lot, mainly to rights tv. This is not always the case in other sports. Is it that the concern is more the other sports such as rugby or basketball ?
The concern it is everywhere. There has been much discussion in the closed session. There has been much said that there was 85 % of the resources of the football that came out of the tv. I don’t have the impression that behind closed doors are something that is as pleasant as can be, match with spectators, even in front of the tv. It has given desire to many of the world’s return to the stadium I’m not sure that television would continue to give the amounts that they give.
For me, it really is a fight for all sports and all cities, whether Paris or whatever the basketball at Chalon : it is necessary that people can go in stages safely. We had worked a lot on the issue of protocols. There have been a few incidents. There have been some difficulties, of course, but it is true that I would have preferred that you give a little thinking time before going up to the end of the month of August.
