Paris – French soccer forward Kylian Mbappé has turned down an extension with Paris St. Germain's contract, which expires in a year. According to L'Équipe and other media, the club management announced this in a letter. He could leave as early as this summer. The French champion would thus lose another foothold after Lionel Messi.
Twenty-four-year-old Mbappé came to PSG in 2018 from Monaco for 180 million euros as the second most expensive footballer of all time after the Brazilian Neymar. Last year he extended his contract until 2024 with an option that he has now decided not to exercise.
2018 world champion Mbappé is the top scorer in the history of the Paris club. Last season, 28 goals helped him to his eleventh title, he also won the poll for the best player in Ligue 1 for the fourth time.
