A tour was carried out by the Minister(s) of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, to verify the changes in the plan for the recovery of public spaces in Coquimbo, where he called the results obtained in the commune an “example to follow.” He also delivered six new vehicles to strengthen the work of Carabineros.

The initiative is promoted jointly between the municipality, the Government and the Carabineros, which seeks to recover the center of the city for expeditious and safe circulation from the neighbors.

In the framework of a working meeting between Monsalve and the mayor of Coquimbo, Ali Manoucheri, the latter presented the progress of the plan. Meeting in which the presidential delegate Rubén Quezada, deputy Daniel Manouchehri, Carabineros, Investigative Police, Navy and councilors also participated.

The minister (s) stressed that “we tell Chileans that If you have any doubts about whether public spaces can be recovered, come to Coquimbo. It is an example that public spaces can be recovered,and not only when there is a decision, but when there is joint work. The mayor has led a plan that has several stages and components, establishing a collaborative link with the Government, has had the support of Carabineros and other public institutions”.

He stressed that the above “is a sample of serious work to think of a good solution, it was not done against those who want to work, but rather alternatives were given to those who want to to do it.”

Delivery of new vehicles to Carabineros

The authority toured the center of Coquimbo to observe the implementation of this plan and led thedelivery of six vehicles to Carabineros de Coquimbo, to strengthen community security through patrols, crime prevention and combat.

On loan

“We are in a recovery plan for the Carabineros vehicle fleet and in Coquimbo six new mobiles are delivered, which will increase the operational capacity to provide services to the community,” he highlighted.

The Mayor Manouchehri, reiterated that “people need to go back to walking through the free streets, where our elderly, people with disabilities, families, recover their spaces.We are very happy, the people are happy, without a doubt this policy has allowed the municipalities to raise proposals, alternatives for the recovery of spaces where the benefits will always be the families of Coquimbana.”

According to the community chief , “As a municipality we have made the determination to sit down at dialogue tables with informal commerce, which has shown full willingness to receive support in its regularization and that type of signs shows us that there is no setback, only growth and we hope to have the center of Coquimbo as the one that the coquimbanos and coquimbanas deserve”.

For his part, the presidential delegate Rubén Quezada added that “the process of recovery of public spaces is taking place in several cities of the country, where we have had intersectoral, coordinated work, especially the municipality, as what we see in Coquimbo. There are plans, material capacities to solve and with financing through the State, this is a process in which a diagnosis was made, a treatment was defined and it is in full execution”.
