Ostrava/Prague – Moravian-Silesian governor Ivo Vondrák continues to have the support of the ANO regional club of representatives even after leaving the movement. After today's meeting of the club, its chairman and regional head of ANO, Josef Bělica, confirmed it. Vondrák added that he does not even feel any tension within the regional ANO. The first vice-chairman of the movement, Karel Havlíček, told ČTK that he understands that regional representatives do not want to make a radical change at the end of their term of office. However, according to him, Vondrák should evaluate himself whether it seems fair to him to remain in his positions. Elections to regional councils are held next year.

Vondrák announced his departure from ANO on February 24. On Friday, he will lead the council for the first time as the governor, who is no longer a member of ANO. He has been the governor since 2016. According to Vondrák, none of the representatives of ANO will submit a proposal for a change in the post of governor, and according to his information, neither will the coalition partners or the opposition. “We discussed the support of Mr. Hetman in the past and nothing has changed,” said Bělica. He added that Governor Vondrák has had the support of the ANO club since the beginning of the election period.

“I understand that the regional representatives do not want to make a radical change at the end of their term of office, it is more about Mr. Vondrák. He should evaluate for himself whether it seems fair to him to remain in the positions where he got to thanks to the voters of the ANO movement,” wrote ČTK Havlíček .

Vondrák announced his departure from ANO in February, on that day the regional presidency of the movement was supposed to deal with the proposal of the national presidency to expel him. Vondrák said at the time that he would like to stay in the position of governor until the end of his term of office. He stated at the time that he felt the support of the representatives.

“What happened was what I expected – that only the points that we will solve on Friday at the council will be discussed, because the club of representatives expressed its support for me and nothing has changed. I firmly believe that we are what we have always been. We will be pragmatic and matter-of-fact. We are concerned with ensuring the functioning of the regional policy that we started here,” Vondrák said today.

Vondrák said that he does not feel any tension within the ANO regional movement. According to him, the situation in the region is different compared to the Ostrava council, after Mayor Tomáš Macura and his two deputies left the movement. “I think we are even more united in this, after all, here it is not like in Ostrava, where you have a lot of districts,” said Vondrák.

According to Vondrák, none of the deputies will submit a proposal for a change in the post of governor for YES and he has information from the coalition partners that they are not either. He said that he did not have such information even from the opposition. “Of course, in politics they say: Never say never. But I assume that we will calmly finish our election period and start what is already happening, that is, the transformation that is financed from the European Union,” said the governor.< /p>

Vondrák is a long-term critic of the situation in the movement and in the presidential election he did not vote for ANO chairman Andrej Babiš, but for his opponent and newly elected president Petr Pavl. Last month, Ostrava mayor Macura or his deputy for investments Zuzana Bajgarová, who were also critics of the movement and supported Pavel in the presidential election, left the ANO movement. Macura subsequently announced that he would leave the post of mayor of the Moravian-Silesian Region within six months.
