Karlovy Vary – The British band Morcheeba will play at the opening concert of the film festival in Karlovy Vary on June 30. In addition to her, the already announced actor Russell Crowe will perform with his group Indoor Garden Party, as well as singer Vojtěch Dyk with his original project D.Y.K. The festival organizers announced this in a press release today. This year's festival will be held from June 30 to July 8.

Morcheeba's concert will take place in front of the Thermal Hotel as part of the opening ceremony of the festival on June 30 from 19:00. It will be free for the public. Morcheeba was founded in the 1990s by Ross Godfrey with his brother Paul and singer Skye Edwards. Morcheeby's compositions offer a mix of trip hop, rock, blues and ethnic elements. The band has performed several times in the Czech Republic, most recently at the Metronome festival in Prague in 2021.
On the opening day of the Karlovy Vary festival, Crowe and Indoor Garden Party will also play in front of Thermal from 10:45 p.m. People can also listen to this concert for free. The program of the opening evening on June 30 will also include a performance by singer Vojtěch Dyk from 9:00 p.m. in the area of the Mattoni Life Bar near Vřídelní colonnady.
The festival organizers have already announced that actor and director Russell Crowe will also receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema. The next recipient will be the Czech actress Daniela Kolářová, who will receive the President's Award of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. The theme song of this year's 57th Karlovy Vary Film Festival reminds one of the guests of the international show, the American actor and producer Johnny Depp. The jingle, recorded by director Ivan Zachariáš, will be seen by the audience for the first time at the opening of the festival.
