The garbage collectors in Lyon are sounding the alarm, and they are not the only ones : photos taken during their tours, they report on Twitter the unreliability of those who get rid of their masks… throwing them to the ground.
The president of the city of lyon, David Kimefeld, has also pushed a ” rant “, recalling that these wastes pose a risk not only to the agents of cleanliness, but even to passers-by.
Not to mention the pollution generated by these protection equipment users. A surgical mask will be 400 years old, at least, to decompose in nature !
Surgical masks, but gloves or masks in the tissues, the examples multiply. Paris, and, in fact, a little everywhere in France, this is the new waste of the roadway and parking areas of supermarket. And all are potentially infected, need I remind you.
Deputy in charge of the cleanliness to the city hall of Paris, Paul Simondon tries a pedagogical approach :
Paris precisely, any person caught throwing a mask (or other) in the street can receive a fine of 68€. Other cities have adopted similar measures to punish this type of behaviour.
What do you do with a mask used ?
Any object capable of spreading the coronavirus, whether it’s a mask, a wipe, a paper handkerchief or a pair of gloves should be discarded in a trash bag dedicated, which will be resealed carefully and kept for 24 hours.
After this period, it can be thrown in the trash bag to the bin of garbage.
Attention, these wastes are to be incinerated, they should in no case be put in the garbage for recyclable waste.
A Question of good sense also, when we walk around in the city or when going shopping at the supermarket, it is enough to have with itself a small plastic bag for storing a mask used. It is always better than in the street!!!
