Beijing/Washington – US high-altitude balloons have flown by at least since last year ten times through Chinese airspace. A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, quoted by Reuters, stated this at a regular press conference today.

China reported on Sunday that it was preparing to shoot down an unidentified flying object that was observed off the waters of the city of Zhichao in the coastal province of Shandong. The governments of the United States and Canada have also had unidentified objects shot down over their territory in recent days.
Of the three flying objects shot down by the US military in recent days, one is known to have been a balloon from China, which was, according to the Americans, intended for espionage. The Chinese government, on the other hand, claims that the flying object was an “unmanned civilian airship” that deviated from its original route due to strong winds.
