Just seven days after the extraordinary victory obtained in the Aragon GP, Pecco Bagnaia once again conquers the highest step of the podium in the home Grand Prix held this afternoon on the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”, in front of the 25,000 spectators present in the stands. For the Ducati Lenovo Team rider, who thus achieves his second consecutive success in the premier class, another perfect weekend ends, which saw him dominate first qualifying on Saturday and then today’s race.

Starting from pole position, the Turin driver gained the lead immediately after the start, setting a very fast pace and managing in a short time to secure an advantage of over a second over his rivals. From the middle of the race Quartararo moved up to second position and began to approach Bagnaia, coming within a few tenths of a second in the final laps, but Pecco continued to drive perfectly, maintaining the first position until the checkered flag. The performance of Enea Bastianini, rider of the Ducati Esponsorama Racing team, achieved his first podium in MotoGP at the end of a masterful race, which saw him recover from the twelfth position on the grid to the third step of the podium.

The performance of team mate Jack Miller, on the other hand, was less fortunate. The Australian rider, who started with the second best time, managed to make a good start and maintain the second position after the start behind Bagnaia. After half the race, however, Miller began to feel a vibration in the rear that did not allow him to maintain the same pace. Passed first by Quartararo and then by Bastianini, the Ducati Lenovo Team rider tried to manage the advantage over his pursuers, but was eventually also overtaken by Marc Márquez on the finish line, finishing fifth.

After today’s race, Bagnaia, second in the general classification, shortens the distance to 48 points behind Quartararo, while MIller remains in fifth place with 140 points. Ducati is in first position in the Constructors’ Championship, while the Ducati Lenovo Team is second in the team standings.

Francesco Bagnaia (1st): “Also this weekend we worked flawlessly. It was by no means an easy race: at the end Quartararo was really strong, but I tried to remain constant as much as possible. Getting another win was important and having done it here on the home track, in front of so many fans and those who love me, was even more special. Now we won’t have much time to celebrate: on Tuesday and Wednesday we will be back on track for two days of testing, but for now I want to enjoy this success“.

Jack Miller (5th): “Unfortunately, after a good start, I started to feel some vibrations in the rear that didn’t allow me to keep the same pace until the end. Too bad because in the first laps, when I was second behind Pecco, I felt really at ease and had managed to gain a certain advantage over my rivals. But then, towards the middle of the race, I started to suffer from these vibrations. I finished wide and tried my best not to lose too many positions. Now let’s try to turn the page and focus on the two days of testing that we will have here in Misano on Tuesday and Wednesday. I congratulate Pecco for having achieved another extraordinary victory“.

Michele Pirro (11th): “Not racing continuously in MotoGP, I missed the pace a bit today. In the race I mounted a tire that was too soft which forced me to slow down at the end after taking some risks. In any case, I had a lot of fun and I am very happy with the victory obtained by Bagnaia. Our package has proven to work very well. Now I hope to get a better result when I will race here again in October in the Emilia Romagna and Made in Italy GP. Thanks to Ducati and the Ducati Test Team for their support this weekend“.
