New York – Petr Mrázek stopped 39 shots in the NHL on Florida ice and kept a clean sheet until the 49th minute, but he did not prevent the Chicago hockey players from losing 3:4 in overtime. In the remaining game on Friday's schedule, Lukáš Dostál covered the back of John Gibson, who led Anaheim to 36 saves in a 3-1 win in Calgary and was named the first star of the game. Daniel Vladař played the role of substitute goalkeeper on the losing side.

Chicago led 2-0 after the first period with goals from Caleb Jones and Boris Katchouk. Florida turned the game around between the 49th and 53rd minutes. Frost was overcome in 29 seconds by close Sam Bennett and flowing Sam Reinhart. Eeta Luostarinen completed the quick turnaround with a shot over the catcher. The visitors forced extra time with a goalless game, Cole Guttman getting through from the post. An important second point was secured by home brandon Montour with a backhand between Mrák's concretes.
In his third start in a row, Mrázek achieved a success rate of over ninety percent, but despite his efforts, all the games ended in a loss to Chicago. With its third straight win, Florida moved within two points of the last playoff spot held by Pittsburgh in the Eastern Conference.
Calgary is in the Western Conference, just like Florida, in the first non-advancement position for the playoffs. But the Canadian club did not reduce the four-point loss to Winnipeg despite the shooting activity of 37:18, because they broke their teeth on Gibson. Although Mikael Backlund beat him in the 27th minute on the power play and opened the scoring, Anaheim turned things around in the second period with hits from Max Comtois and Brett Leason. Ducks' victory was sealed by Derek Grant's empty net two seconds before the end of the game.
The results of Friday's NHL games:
Florida – Chicago 4:3 in overtime, Calgary – Anaheim 1:3.
