No Czech player scored in Tuesday's NHL program, but Jakub Vrána played in the competition for the first time since October 15 and after the game he was happy about Detroit's 3:1 win in Washington. The native of Prague played eleven and a half minutes, during which he scored twice and added one positive point to his plus/minus statistics.
Chicago lost 0:1 and 1:2. Keegan Kolesar beat Mrázek from close range in the fourth minute, but Cole Guttman equalized in the first period from a breakaway. From a quick counterattack, Jack Eichel took the lead to the Vegas side with a shot over Mrázek's jumper. Tyler Johnson had the last word, who equalized in 59:05 and was the only one to make it in the raids.
Vaněček took his first regular-season loss since December 28, despite only 17 shots on him. At the beginning of the match, Justin Barron beat him with a shot between the concretes. After Jesper Bratt equalized, Montreal jumped to 4:1. At the start of the second period, Jonathan Kovacevic and Nick Suzuki scored within 73 seconds. In the 46th minute, the Czech goalkeeper was helpless in the interplay, which was finished by Rem Pitlick into the open goal.
New Jersey made the game even more dramatic with a hit by Dawson Mercer, but Mike Matheson took away their hope for a point gain when playing without a goalie.
Dostal, who conceded seven times from 44 shots last time in Buffalo, resisted until the 28th minute. But Tampa Bay got going and took a 6-0 lead at 42:23. The first two goals came from the left circle after shots from Nick Paul and Ross Colton. Anaheim's defense left Dostál on the edge, and Anthony Cirelli, Brayden Point and Corey Perry made their mark from close range. Zach Bogosian made the remaining shot from the blue line. Ryan Strome scored an honorable mention for the visitors.
