The second round of local elections will still be held on the 28th of June in nearly 5000 common. What lists are still in the running ? What alliances have been forged – or not – in between the two towers ?
These mergers of the list are sometimes logical, like Paris between the PS and the Greens, sometimes surprising, for example, in Montpellier, france. The stakes of the election differ from one city to the other, between duels and, more often, triangular. In all cases, the absention, very strong in the first round, should also play the role of umpire.
Paris : Anne Hidalgo favorite
The mayor outbound Anne Hidalgo share favorite in this campaign for the second round, with 44 % of voting intentions according to the latest poll published in the JDD. The merger of the lists of socialists and environmentalists allows them to pretend to be 11 points ahead of the Republican Rachida Dati. The candidate LREM and former Health minister Agnès Buzyn leading-edge, it, of 20% of voting intentions.
Nothing is played so far and the great arbitrators of this election should be the voters. They were 57 % in the first round.
Marseille : the right danger
The campaign of the municipal has taken a funny turn since this weekend, the list of the candidate LR is found, entangled in a case of alleged fraud with the proxies. Second arrival of the first round (22,32%), Martine Vassal’s neck and neck with Michele Rubirola (23,44%) ex-EELV and candidate of the collective of left The Spring in marseille.
For this second round, also remain in the running list RN senator Stephane Ravier (19,45% in the first round) and the candidate LR dissident Bruno Gilles (10,65%).
The situation is however made more complicated by the organization of the election by sectors, eight in total, and which will be drawn from the 101 councillors of the City. Their number differs from one sector to the other, depending on the number of inhabitants.
Lyon : the alliance that surprises
The outgoing mayor and former interior minister Gérard Collomb, has triggered a political earthquake by announcing at the end of may his rallying to the candidate LR François-Noël Buffet. He did not give up there to the town hall, but to the presidency of the Metropolis. The republican candidate is will face the current president, which is also a candidate LREM dissident David Kimelfeld, and the ecologist and supported by the left Bruno Bernard.
For the City of Lyon and its nine electoral districts, we find the same political forces, with a report LREM-LR inverted, since it is this time the walker Yann Cucherat, who has benefited from the withdrawal of the Republicans. The lists of left and green are gathered behind Grégory Doucet. A third candidate, Georges Képénékian is in the running. The former mayor of Lyon acting, when Gérard Collomb was Beauvau, and current 1st assistant, has lists of qualified, independent, and supported by David Kimefeld.
Toulouse : going green ?
The outgoing mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR, supported by Lrem), however, arrived in the lead on the first lap with 36.2% of the votes, finds herself in a delicate posture since the merger of the list of the union of the left in favour of that of Antoine Maurice. The candidate ecologist list Archipelago Citizen has been credited 27.6 % of the vote on march 15, the list of various left-Nathalie Pellefigue came third with 18,53 % of the vote.
A poll dated June 15 announcement that a second round particularly tight 51 %-49 %. Jean-Luc Moudenc could take advantage of its management of the health crisis.
Nice : Estrosi, before
It should not be a big surprise to Nice, where the outgoing mayor various right of Christian Estrosi arrived well ahead of the first round, with 47,62 % of the vote. He will play against on June 28, the candidate of the Rassemblement national Philippe Vardon (16,69%) and ecologist Jean-Marc Governatori (11,30%), who had not made an alliance with the left.
The only unknown of this election niçois is in fact the abstention, which had been particularly strong in the first round : 71,46 %.
Nantes : the struggle of women
The outgoing Johanna Rolland (PS) would retain the town hall, high of 31,36 % of the votes in the first round, but also the good score (19,58%) of the candidate, ecologist Julie Laernoes. Lists union of the left and EELV have in effect merged between the two towers. Behind, Laurence Garnier represents the union of the right and Valerie Opelt the alliance LREM-Modem. They have respectively obtained 19,93 % and 13 % of the vote on march 15.
Montpellier : funny alliance
Of the fourteen lists of the first round, there remain only three : those of the outgoing mayor various left Philippe Saurel (kings 19,11 % on 15 march), the candidate PS-PCF-PRG Michaël Delafosse and business man, Mohed Altrad (13,30%). Joined by the candidate EELV official Coralie Mantion (7,42%), the socialist Michaël Delafosse has not convinced three other candidates whose scores in the first round weigh but in the balance, the humorist Rémi Gaillard (9,58%), the Insubordinate Alenka Doulain (9,25%) and the ecologist Chlotilde Ollier (at 7.25%). The last two are in fact on the list without a label of Mohed Altrad, in 2nd and 4th position !
Strasbourg : triangular open
The lack of agreement between the socialist party list led by Catherine Trautmann and the list environmentalist and citizen of Jeanne Barseghian could (mathematically) make the third candidate. Although he was runner-up in the first round (19,86%) behind Jeanne Barseghian (27,87%) and in front of Catherine Trautmann (19,77%), the walker Alain Fontanel has merged its list with that of the Republican Jean-Philippe Vetter (18,26%). It is supported by the outgoing mayor, the ex-socialist Roland Ries.
Bordeaux : dam to green
The capital of the gironde department is one of those cities where the alliance has been created between LREM and LR for dam conservationists and/or to the left. The outgoing mayor Nicolas Florian (34,56 % of the votes in the first round) and the walker Thomas Cazenave (12,69%) thus exhibit a common list in the face of Stone Hurmic (34,38%), candidate of EELV, and the parties of the left. The duel is transformed into a triangular by the retention of Philippe Poutou, a leader of the list supported by BIA and the NPA, Bordeaux struggles (11,77%).
Lille : family quarrels
The second round of the election of lille, this particular in that it opposes candidates who know each other perfectly. For the first time since 1977, in fact, the socialists led by the mayor outbound Martine Aubry (29.8 per cent in the first round) do not make alliance with the Greens. Stephane Baly (24,5%) is therefore still a candidate. The third candidate for the chair of chief magistrate is leading a campaign under the banner LREM. This is Violette Spillebout (17.5% to 15 march), which is none other than the former chief of cabinet of Martine Aubry.
