The process is carried out after a report issued by the Comptroller’s Office in which it is revealed that the millionaire amount was not justified by the previous administration of the DAEM. The former mayor of Frutillar, Claus Lindemann, told Radio Bio Bio that he does not have the background to discuss the case.
The Municipality of Frutillar initiated an administrative proceeding, after the report from the Comptroller’s Office that revealed an amount of $2,740 million without justification by the Department of Municipal Education Administration (DAEM) during the previous administration.
The money, coming from the Ministry of Education, was handed over to the Municipality of Frutillar in its capacity as holder.
The purpose of the investigation will be to determine the responsibilities and clarify the destination of the millionaire amount, questioned by the supervisory body after an audit carried out on the former DAEM.
Resources not justified by previous administration of the municipality of Frutillar
The audit revealed that the resources made available by the Ministry of Education to the municipality, as of October 27, 2021, totaled $3,144,513,557
It was verified that in the current accounts managed by the former DAEM of Frutillar, as of May 31, 2022, resources were maintained for a total of $404,126,525, determining a difference for the sum of $ ;2.740.387.032.
In parallel to the municipal investigation, the Comptroller’s Office will carry out a disciplinary procedure to determine possible responsibilities.
After being consulted by Radio Bio Bio, the former mayor of the commune, Claus Lindemann, assured that he does not have the background to discuss the case.
Legal action for payments to former DAEM director
The Comptroller’s report also found that the Municipality of Frutillar disbursed the figure of $28 million for a judicial settlement in order not to go to trial with the former director of the DAEM, Francoise Jouannet.
The < strong>current mayor of Frutillar, César HuenuqueoHe said that this decision was made by his administration, with the aim of protecting communal coffers.
“Our legal team did a very detailed and efficient job on this case. A judicial transaction is generated for approximately 50% of the lawsuit, which helps to safeguard the resources of the Municipality”, said the mayor.
“ We have a lawsuit for violation of fundamental rights, on the part of this official, who was close to $55 million. In addition there were $20 million from the previous administration not paid for service fees”, he detailed.
