Indian Wells (USA) – Tennis players Barbora Krejčíková and Karolína Plíšková failed to advance to the quarterfinals of the prestigious tournament in Indian Wells. In the fourth round, Krejčíková lost a three-set match against world number two Aryna Sabalenková 3:6, 6:2, 4:6, Plíšková lost to Maria Sakkariová 4:6, 7:5, 3:6. She lost to the seventh-seeded Greek player, who is defending her participation in last year's final in the Californian desert, in two and three quarter hours.

Krejčíková, who was the only player this season to beat the Belarusian Australian Open champion during her campaign for the Dubai title in February, was already losing 1:5 in the first set after an unsuccessful start and in the end she could only reduce. In the second set, however, she was flawless on serve, did not offer her opponent a single break point and quickly equalized.
However, this time, unlike in Dubai, she was unable to complete the turnaround. In the decisive set, Sabalenková took the lead again, and although the Czech Grand Slam champion from Roland Garros 2021 fought in the end, she was unable to equalize. Belarus converted the first match point after two hours and five minutes.
The 30-year-old Plíšková, for whom the Indian Wells semi-final was the maximum six years ago, could not rely on her own serve at the beginning of the match, lost it twice and did not save the first set. However, thanks to a better managed end of the second set, she equalized and entered the third better.
In the marathon opening game, which lasted for 19 minutes, she averted ten break points and in the following game she took the opponent's serve, but did not maintain the advantage. By the end of the match, she didn't even win a game on her serve. Sakkariová Plíšková avenged the smooth defeat from the recent duel in Dubai and leveled the balance at 3:3 in the sixth match between them.
