Palisades Tahoe (USA) – Norwegian skier Alexander Steen Olsen wins the World Cup slalom in Palisades Tahoe and claimed his first triumph in the series. He was able to celebrate the victory only after the additional disqualification of the Greek AJ Ginnis, who missed one of the goals. The Norwegian triumph was underlined by the second place of Timon Haugan, who was only five hundredths behind his compatriot. Albert Popov from Bulgaria and Frenchman Clément Noël shared the third place.

< p>Ginnis first topped the leaderboard and could have become the first Greek ever to win a World Cup race in Alpine skiing. Although it seemed that he dragged his ski behind one of the goals during his run in the second round, the jury could not confirm the so-called spitzer on the camera footage for a long time, because the heavy snowfall affected the clarity of the shots. The decision to disqualify was made after a long time.
Twenty-one-year-old Steen Olsen, who initially lost to Ginnis by only one hundredth of a second, saw his first triumph in the SP at the green table. Popov also celebrated a career high: with the fastest ride of the second lap, he moved to the podium for the first time. He shared third place with Olympic champion Noël, who did not defend his lead from the first round. They trailed the winner by 24 hundredths. The reigning world champion Henrik Kristoffersen from Norway lost a tenth more in fifth place.
Leadership in the intermediate ranking of the discipline was maintained by Lucas Braathen, who finished seventh with a distance of 49 hundredths. He now leads Kristoffersen by 32 points.
The 28-year-old native of Athens Ginnis could end the month of his life with a triumph in the American winter resort. At the beginning of February, he first made history in Chamonix with second place in the slalom as the first Greek skier on the podium in the World Cup, then he sensationally won silver at the World Cup in Courchevel and won the first ever valuable metal from the World Cup for Greece.
