Coach Jan Suchopárek had to make a change in the trio of goalkeepers already on Wednesday, when the injured Spartan Matěj Kovář also dropped out of the nomination. He was replaced by Jakub Markovič from Pardubice, who will probably fight for the number one position with Vítězslav Jaroš from Liverpool.
Markovič has not yet caught a twenty-first in a competitive match, he has only half a game in the friendly match with Portugal. Twenty-three-year-old Neuman is a complete rookie. In the past season, he helped Karviné to win the second league and return to the top competition, although he was dropped from the starting lineup at the end of the year.
The team will fly to the venue of the championship early in the morning on Monday, June 19. “We have training until Thursday and we will have a model game on Friday, which should be closed to the public. The team will then meet again on Saturday evening, also so that we can respond to any further injuries over the weekend, if God forbid, ” said Suchopárek.
The Czech national team will play Group C on Thursday, June 22, in Batumi, Georgia, against England. They will face Germany at the same venue three days later and finish the group on June 28 in Kutaisi against Israel. All matches will be played from 18:00 CEST.
