A 1973 Citroën SM from the gendarmerie’s rapid intervention brigade was sold at auction this Sunday at Breteuil-sur-Noye (Oise), reports Actu Oise. This is a very rare car since, in total, only five vehicles of this type belonged to the gendarmerie, including two who were already listed. Estimated between 15,000 and 20,000 euros, it was finally sold. awarded to 28,500 euros.

The story between the Citroën SM and the gendarmerie began in 1972. À At the time, the police had chosen to appeal to; this car for its speed. This model could indeed reach 228 km/h thanks to its 170 hp Maserati V6 engine. Two copies had then been bought, then three more in 1973.

Manufactured for five years

The car was finally sold. manufactured from 1970 to 1975. After this date, due to the oil shock and speed limits, Citroën wished to stop its manufacture. This gives today a particularly sought-after collector’s car.
