Olivia Baril poses here with the honors went to the winner of the Gran Premio Ciudad de Eibar disputed Sunday in Spain.
Olivia Baril (UAE Team ADQ) won her first victory of the season on Sunday in Spain.
The Rouynorandian cyclist won the Grand Prix de the city of Eibar in the final sprint ahead of the Spaniard Sheyla Gutiérrez (Movistar) and her own teammate, Yulia Biriukova, who runs with the UAE development team.
She was also able to count on the help of Biriukova who was in the leading group with her and who allowed her to prepare well for her final sprint.
I'm very happy how the race went. The Movistar team was very aggressive. I have to thank my teammates who did a great job in the breakaways and in positioning me for the final sprint. We were just a small group at the end of the race and Biriukova was with me. She did an excellent job and worked for me, which allowed me to win the sprint and the race, underlines Olivia Baril in a press release issued by her team.
Olivia Baril covered the 112 kilometers of the one-day event in 2 hours 50 minutes 32 seconds. This is a repeat offense for her who won this race last year.
It's also a second podium in two weeks for the Rouynorandienne, who finished 3rd in the last stage of the Tour of the Basque Country. It must be said that these are roads that she knows well, since she has lived in this region of Spain for three years.
