Washington – One person died and three others were injured in an attack on a shopping mall in the city of El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing local police. One suspect has been arrested, and police are looking for another possible suspect, police spokesman Robert Gomez said. The motive for the crime is still unknown. The attack appears to have taken place in the part of the Cielo Vista Mall where the restaurants are located.

“There was chaos. People were running and scared. Shots were fired and it caused panic,” Gomez said. Police urged residents to avoid the area where the department store is located. “The police are now combing the department store and gathering possible witnesses. But it's a huge area to check, so it will take time,” he added. A weapon was seized at the scene. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals and their injuries are not serious.
Also, a department store, then Walmart, was targeted by a gunman in El Paso, located on the Mexican border, already in 2019. A man armed with an AK-47 assault rifle he shot and killed 20 people on the spot and injured over two dozen of them. Three other people succumbed to their injuries later in hospital.
