We are just under a month away from the start of the Tokyo Olympics, after they were delayed due to the pandemic by COVID-19. Many have been looking forward to this event and it seems that now we have another reason to be excited, especially if you are an anime fan.

According to a tweet from the Japanese news portal, Gendai News, Rehearsals for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games have already begun. But the funny thing is that some inhabitants have reported that the subject is heard ‘Tsubasa wo Kudasai‘from Evangelion.

Evangelion and other popular songs at the Olympics

In addition, it seems that we will not only be listening to a song by Evangelion. Since another twitter user uploaded a response with a video where you can hear the iconic victory theme of the famous video game saga of ‘Final fantasy‘. The user also reports that a song is heard from Dragon quest, but we cannot distinguish it.

Video games and anime are very large and important industries in Japan so it doesn’t seem so strange that the organizers of the Olympic Games are using iconic themes for their opening ceremony. They have even announced that characters like Goku, Mario, Sailor Moon and Astro Boy they will serve as ambassadors for the Olympic joust.

Of course, the fact that these popular songs are heard leaving the stadium does not necessarily mean that they will be used in an Olympic event. Maybe it’s just about audio tests and a fan of these series decided to test the speakers with their favorite tunes.
