Outbreak in La Spezia, the team doctor: “Fault of two players No vax”

A small outbreak of Covid-19 broke out in Spezia Calcio and the fault, according to the doctor of the Ligurian company, is of two No vax footballers. As of today, Monday 19 July 2021, the positives are eleven. The team is in Prato dello Stelvio for the pre-season retreat and the club has obtained the authorization to carry out individual training sessions from the ASL of Bolzano.

“We proceeded to carry out the first dose of the vaccine. Two footballers did not want to carry out the vaccine, they consider themselves No vax, and a small cluster has been created from a clinical point of view. Fortunately, all the boys are fine. All the clubs are proceeding with vaccinations ”, explains Vincenzo Salini, medical doctor of La Spezia and member of the medical commission of the Football Federation, to the microphones of Radio Punto Nuovo.

“A player of the two No vax tested positive and the other vaccinated had too recently the first dose for coverage,” continues Salini. “Don’t summon the No vax? This is up to the clubs, however it is a low percentage. I think this aspect pushes players even more to get vaccinated. Vaccinated footballers tested positive because we do not have complete coverage between first and second doses ”.

“As the FIGC Medical Commission – the Spezia doctor underlines – we have a lighter protocol because it provides for vaccination. Work is underway to bring spectators to the stadiums. I am confident because hospitalization numbers are low and those who undergo hospitalization are the unvaccinated. I am sure that in La Spezia, after the second dose, we will have no more problems and as with the green pass we will have the stadiums full for important percentages. The players should get vaccinated, but we can only persuade them ”.
