New York – The Boston hockey players lost to the Red Wings 3:5 on the ice a day after their home win over Detroit in the NHL. The Bruins were not helped by a goal and a pass by David Pastrňák, who was named the third star of the match, nor by two assists from Pavel Zacha.

Boston defeated Detroit 3-2 on Saturday to officially clinch a playoff spot and reach 50 wins in a season after just 64 games, a feat that no team in NHL history has ever accomplished. The Bruins achieved a record win after turning around from 0-2, but today they let the opponent run away with a difference of four goals and could not make up the loss despite a lot of pressure.
The match seemed practically decided in the 36th minute, when visiting Adam Erne made it 4-0 for Detroit. Less than two minutes later, Matt Grzelcyk scored the goal of hope for the home team, assisted by Pastrňák and Zacha. In the 44th minute, Jake DeBrusk made it 2-4, and in the 47th minute, shortly after visiting Dylan Larkin hit the post in a solo escape, Pastrňák shot past Ville Huss and brought Boston within a single goal.
The Czech gunner scored the 46th goal of the year after Zach's assist and made up for his mistake with the second conceded goal in the 27th minute, when he was Moritz Seider took the puck away from the blue team and scored in a weak position.
The best team in the competition outshot the opponent 13:7 in the third period, but could not equalize. Less than half a minute before the siren, in a game without a goalkeeper, Andrew Copp scored into an empty net.
