The duel between the leaders of both conferences offered an even battle that had to be decided by overtime. Visiting Boston sent Taylor Hall into the lead in the 11th minute, who ended Hampus Lindholm's individual action. The second assist on Hall's goal was scored by Krejčí, who improved his tally to 43 points.
Dallas turned the score around in the first half of the match, but in the third period Boston equalized thanks to Zach. The Czech forward got the puck after Pastrňák's interplay with Brandon Carl and sent the game into overtime with a shot into the top corner of the goal.
In this, he and Pastrňák switched roles. After combining with Zacha and Charlie McAvoy, the Czech gunner got to the puck at the top of the left circle for a throw-in and with his 39th goal of the season decided Boston's 3-2 win. After a successful evening, Zacha reached the limit of 37 points and broke his personal record from last season.
New Jersey defeated Columbus 3:2 and won the fourth of the last five duels. The Devils decided against the worst team in the NHL at 59:58, when defenseman Ryan Graves came through after Palát's assist. The Czech forward scored for the fourth time in a row and scored fourteen points in the New Jersey jersey. Goalkeeper Vítek Vaněček made 31 saves during the Devils' win.
Winnipeg goalkeeper David Rittich was also happy with the victory, as he made 27 saves to help his team win 3:2 after separate raids.
