Prague – President-elect Petr Pavel will present his plans for this week today, which should include, for example, a trip to Ústí nad Labem and meetings with representatives of the region and cities. At the press conference, he will also return to last week, when, among other things, he spent two days on a trip to the Karlovy Vary Region and the Munich Security Conference.

Pavel visited eight cities in the Karlovy Vary region in two days last week, met with mayors, representatives of the region and debated with citizens and students. The aim of the visit was to find out the main problems of one of the regions, which is among the structurally disabled and in many statistics ranks last among the regions. The trip to the Ústí Region this week will probably have the same goal.
On his first foreign trip since his election in January, Pavel held eight bilateral meetings, including meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish President Andrzej Duda. The program also included ten informal meetings and an appearance at a panel discussion on Ukraine. “I tried to show that the Czech Republic is returning to an active, coordinated and comprehensible foreign policy, even at the presidential level,” he said. He will assume the presidency on March 9.
