During this Friday, the leadership of the People's Party (PDG) met with the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, to address different issues regarding Social Security, the Constituent Process and the 2023 Budget.
Specifically, the PDG pointed out the importance of the rejection of the “State Treasury” after feeling the need to “improve it within the Senate“. This, in addition to immigration in the north, the Southern Macrozone and the proposals for crime prevention and control.
The party's General Secretary, Luis Emilio Peña, stressed the importance of the current security situation in the country. “We mentioned him on issues of immigration in the north and the Southern Macrozone,”, Peña said.
In this context, she highlighted 4 relevant points raised by Minister Tohá, regarding crime prevention, control, victims and the legislative process of law processes < /strong>.
“People need clear signals about safety. (…) the proposals that are addressed to the Southern Macrozone, are also addressed to the North, & # 8221 ;, she pointed out.
President of the PDG: anti-terrorism law and rejection of the 2023 Budget
For his part, the president of the PDG, Luis Antonio Moreno, spoke out for the rejection of the 2023 Budget in the Chamber of Deputies, arguing that this decision & #8220;it was so that it could be improved within the Senate“.
“Once, reaching the Senate, he has to return to the Chamber of Deputies To be approved. That is the purpose of the rejection & # 8221 ;, he assured.
In the same way, regarding the anti-terrorism law, Moreno maintained that it must be analyzed, and in reference to all the problems that exist now in the North and South Macrozone. The important thing is that people lose their fear he has at this time regarding terrorism”.
He also stressed the importance of “trying to find solutions as soon as possible”.
“What happened today in the meeting together with the Minister is an advance to be able to solve the problems of crime, drug trafficking, and the same thing that happens in the Macrozones”, he explained.
Constituent process and drafting body
Regarding the constituent process, the president of the PDG emphasized that they were “strong and clear at the beginning” about his position .
The deputy reiterated that & # 8220; it is a priority for us that there be an entry plebiscite & # 8221; . This, alleging that the previous process “was a non-mandatory vote, so there were many people who did not enter”.
“We continue with the position of holding a plebiscite entry regarding the constituent theme. Also, not having interference from international organizations within the composition of the constitution“, Moreno said.
He also explained that “it is not that we are against this, is that we do not want there to be direct interference within the constitution in that area”.
On the other hand, he questioned that “until today” no “advance degree” between the opposition and the ruling party. “We regret that,” he said.
