In The place located on Calle Carmen at least 4 vehicles ordered for theft and hundreds of car parts, such as engines, mechanical boxes, doors or trunks were found.
For this fact, a person was arrested, who worked as a caretaker and mechanic of the place.
From the North Central Robbery Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI) they explained that in the first instance a search was carried out at the place, because it was suspected that it was used for kidnappings, but in the end a clandestine armory was found .
“This facility was used as a place of retention of victims and upon entry it was possible to locate a clandestine workshop, which used and collected vehicles commissioned for theft, actually works as a clandestine junkyard”, explained Prefect Carlos Guerra.
The place where the junkyard was located is municipal
Although the property appears registered as a municipal compound, the Santiago Mayor's Office explained that it was registered a few months ago, due to the misuse that was given to it and that it was used fraudulently by individuals.
In the Municipality they explained that they requested the Justice to evict the place to hand it over on loan to neighborhood organizations, accusing that there were even people who made false contracts to families who live in the compound.
& #8220;This property was being prepared to be handed over on loan to a community organization, therefore we are very happy that this investigation was able to be carried out, however, we find ourselves with these situations that are unfortunate”, he said Kevin Díaz, director of Prevention and Community Safety of the Municipality of Santiago.
