The next opponent of the 30-year-old Czech tennis player in the round of 16 will be world number seven Maria Sakkariová from Greece.

Plíšková, seeded 17th in the tournament, defeated Kuděrmětová, seeded 11th, in less than an hour and a half. After an unequivocal first set, the two-time semi-finalist of the tournament found herself in a tricky situation in the second set, in which she lost 3:5, but won the match with four games in a row. She used five of her six break points against a player she had beaten in straight sets in her previous two matches.
