Kyiv – Poland has delivered four Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, with more to follow soon. According to Reuters and Onet.pl, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said this today in Kyiv, where he went on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of the country. He also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who confirmed that the first German-made tanks delivered by Warsaw have already arrived and will strengthen Ukraine's defense.
“As the first European country, we are delivering the first four Polish Leopard 2 A4 tanks. We will soon deliver more,” Morawiecki announced in the Ukrainian capital, according to the Onet website. Zelenskyy confirmed the receipt of the first machines from Poland at a joint press conference with Morawiecki and thanked the Polish Prime Minister.
“Poland and Europe are on your side. We will definitely not leave you, we will support Ukraine until the complete victory over Russia,” he said and Morawiecki according to the Reuters agency.
Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak informed about the delivery of the first Leopard 2 tanks to the attacked country at a meeting of the National Security Council. “The prime minister cannot be here, he went to Kiev to hand over the Leopard tanks, this is their first group,” said President Andrzej Duda at the opening of a meeting of the Polish state's security leaders.
Poland had previously announced that it would deliver 14 German tanks to Ukraine production of the Leopard 2.
