On the occasion of the show IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich, Porsche presented the spectacular concept car Mission R, which combines cutting-edge technologies and sustainable materials, such as plastic reinforced with natural fibers, with a passion for competitions.

In addition to a futuristic design, the competition prototype a fully electric drive and with an extremely low profile, it has the characteristic features of Porsche sports cars. The two newly developed electric motors of the Porsche Mission R deliver up to 800 kW (1,088 hp) in the so-called “qualification method”.

There battery with capacity of approx 80 kWh and the innovative recovery system allow you to carry out speed races (Sprint Race) without loss of power.

There concept car Mission R electric is a true all-wheel drive Porsche racing car, capable of developing just under 1,100 hp in “qualification mode”, accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in less than 2.5 seconds. The maximum speed is over 300 km / h.

On the track, the electric prototype recorded the same lap time as the current Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Thanks to newly developed electric motors and battery cells, all equipped with an innovative direct oil cooling, the Porsche Mission R concept delivers a constant power of 500 kW (680 hp) in “race mode”.

The so-called derating, i.e. the reduction of battery power due to thermal conditions, it has been eliminated. An electric motor with a power up to 320 kW (435 hp) feeds the front axle, while to the rear they are transferred to the maximum 480 kW (653 hp).

The car recharges up to 340 kW during race stops

Advanced technology a 900 volts and the system Porsche Turbo Charging allow you to charge the battery from 5 to 80% SoC (state of charge) simply with a break of only 15 minutes during races, in pit stops. Charging can be done up to 340 kW.

The Mission R also boasts a system update Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) with DRS downforce reduction system on the front and rear wing.

This includes three loopholes on each of the two side air intakes of the nose and an adjustable rear wing consisting of two sections.

In addition to taking advantage of an innovative battery-powered electric propulsion concept, the concept car stands out for its bodywork geared towards CO2 reduction and sustainability: is largely made in natural fiber reinforced plastic (NFRP), in which the base material consists of flax fibers from agricultural production.

This ecological material was also used for the border of the front spoiler, the diffuser and the side skirts. NFRP has been used extensively in the interior of the Mission R, including the interior door panels, rear bulkhead and seats.

The interior design is focused on the driver in all aspects. A display Ergonomically positioned between the controls on the steering wheel displays i relevant data while running. The monitor above the steering column displays the images taken by the side mirror cameras and from the central rearview mirror camera.

A touch display to the right of the seat can be used, for example, to call up data biometric of the driver. Inside the cabin there are numerous other cameras that can be used to provide exciting sequences for a live broadcast.

The safety structure was made of carbon fiber composite material Porsche engineers and designers renamed “exoskeleton” the newly developed carbon roof structure, which integrates the safety cage and the roof surface.

With his 4,326mm in length, the Porsche Mission R is slightly shorter than the current series 718 Cayman; on the other hand, it is considerably wider with its 1,990 millimeters and much lower, having an external height of 1,190 millimeters.
