Prague – The Třinec hockey players have completed the first step on the way to another title in the elimination battles. At the beginning of the preliminary round of the extra league play off, Steelers defeated Litvínov 3:1. The Liberec players also succeeded against Pilsen and the Brno team in the battle with Mlada Boleslav. The match Olomouc – Karlovy Vary remained unfinished.

The Steelers, who dominated the previous three completed seasons, led from the 26th minute thanks to a goal by Vladimír Dravecký, the guests equalized at the end of the second period after a goal by Andrej Kudrna. The match was decided by Daniel Kurovský in time 46:40. After Kudrna sealed the score in the 58th minute with the score 2:1 for Třinec, Martin Růžička secured the victory for the home team during the Verva team's game without a goalkeeper.
Liberec defeated Pilsen 4:1. The White Tigers laid the foundation for success right at the beginning of the first period – at 6:16 they were already leading 2:0. The home team played comfortably and then added two more goals, the visitors could only reduce the score in the third period thanks to Aleksi Rekonen. On the winning side, young forward Jakub Rychlovský shone with two goals. The North Bohemians thus took a 1:0 lead in the three-win series.
Brno hockey players won over Mladá Boleslaví 4:2. Kometa turned the duel from 0:1 to 3:1 between the 32nd and 40th minutes thanks to two overtimes and defeated their unpopular opponent for the first time in the season. Defender Tomáš Kundrátek scored the winning goal.
The match between Olomouc and Karlovy Vary was prematurely ended by the referees due to an unsuitable playing surface. Only the first period of the match took place, after which the home team led 2:0 after goals from Silvestre Kusko and Pavel Musil. The Association of Professional Clubs (APK), which manages the competition, will decide on the next step in cooperation with both clubs by 11 a.m. on Thursday.
The second matches are scheduled for Thursday at the same stadiums.
