Jerusalem – People who are protesting against judicial reform in Israel have blocked the entrance to Ben Gurion Airport with dozens of vehicles, Haaretz writes. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's flight to Italy was delayed until 14:00 local time (13:00 CET) due to the protests. The participants called today's continuation of the already two-month-long anti-government protests “a day of resistance against the dictatorship”.

The proposed reform would give the government more influence over the appointment of judges and limit the powers of the supreme court. Despite criticism from many quarters, Netanyahu's government began approving it in February.
“I'm really horrified by what's happening here now, and the least I can do is go out and express my opinion,” said one of the thousands of protesters in Tel Aviv. Last week, the police also used water cannons and stun grenades against the protesters blocking the roads. She arrested several protesters.
Due to the demonstrations, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin postponed a meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant from Wednesday to today. He is scheduled to arrive in Israel this afternoon, and due to the blocked roads, he will hold talks with Galant and Netanyahu directly at the airport instead of the originally planned meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense.
