After the title obtained in the Copa América 2021 which put an end to a 28-year drought without celebrations, Argentina regained the title of candidate to win the Qatar 2022 World Cup . With Lionel Messi as the banner, the Albiceleste finished undefeated and runner-up in the South American Qualifiers behind Brazil.
